Fix Comma Showing as Dot in Simplified Arabic Font (Office 365)

Issue: Comma Appears as a Dot in Arabic Numbers

In Microsoft Office 365, when using the Simplified Arabic font, numeric values such as:

1,00,000

may display the comma as a dot (at a distance it looks likea dot), which can be misleading because a dot represents zero in Arabic numeric formatting.

This is a font and keyboard behavior in Office 365, not a document error.

Quick Solution (Recommended)

Instead of typing a comma normally:

✅ Use:

Shift + Comma (,)

This key combination produces a correct comma in the Simplified Arabic font.
While the appearance is slightly different from a standard comma, it is acceptable and displays correctly in Office 365 documents.

Important Keyboard Note (Arabic Layout)

  • In Arabic keyboard layouts, the Num Lock dot key is mapped to insert a comma
  • In the Simplified Arabic font, this comma appears as a dot
  • Going forward, users should avoid using the Num Lock dot key for commas

⚠️ Important Note

  • All previously saved Office 365 documents using the Simplified Arabic font will continue to show the comma as a dot
  • The issue can only be corrected by manually retyping the comma using Shift + Comma

Summary:

✔ Applies to Microsoft Office 365
✔ Use Shift + Comma for correct formatting
✔ Avoid Num Lock dot key
